LIZ SCHENKER - english langauge

Ms. Liz Schenker is a highly experienced and student-centered educator dedicated to helping students become confident readers, writers, and critical thinkers. With approximately 20 years of teaching experience, including 10 years in international schools and the past 2 years teaching online full-time, she has worked with students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. Her international teaching career spans American, British, and French schools, while her online teaching experience has focused primarily on supporting Chinese students in achieving their academic goals.

Ms. Liz holds a Master’s degree and brings extensive experience teaching students ages 5 through 18, with particular expertise in middle school and high school education. She has taught a broad range of subjects, including English Language Arts (ELA), Literature, Academic Reading and Writing, ESL/EFL, World History, European History, American History, Psychology, and Political Science. She also specializes in AP exam preparation, SSAT preparation, and advanced academic writing, helping students strengthen both their language proficiency and higher-order thinking skills.  

Ms. Liz believes that strong literacy skills form the foundation of lifelong learning. Her teaching approach combines English language development with literature, history, and academic writing, encouraging students to analyze complex texts, think critically, and communicate their ideas with confidence. Whether working with native English speakers or English language learners, she carefully adapts her instruction to meet each student’s academic level, learning style, and cultural background. Her experience teaching international students has given her a deep understanding of how to make rigorous academic content engaging, accessible, and relevant.

One of Ms. Liz’s greatest strengths is her versatility as an educator. Throughout her career, she has successfully taught students across multiple curricula, age groups, and academic settings, including international schools, private academies, and online classrooms. She is equally comfortable teaching one-on-one lessons, small-group classes, and larger classroom settings, and has extensive experience designing customized lessons that challenge students while building confidence. Her interdisciplinary background allows her to naturally connect literature, history, social sciences, and writing, helping students develop a broader understanding of the world while strengthening their communication skills.

Beyond the classroom, Ms. Liz has taken on leadership roles in curriculum development and academic administration. She has served as a department leader, developed English language programs for young learners, advised students on university pathways, and designed curricula across multiple educational systems. Her experience working in multilingual and multicultural environments has strengthened her ability to support students with diverse educational goals while maintaining high academic standards.  

Outside of teaching, Ms. Liz has a strong academic and research background. She has contributed to educational and research projects, published academic articles, and enjoys exploring history, politics, literature, and global cultures. As a lifelong learner herself, she brings curiosity, enthusiasm, and intellectual engagement into every lesson, inspiring students to become independent learners both inside and outside the classroom.
